Resolved: Routing complications at LINX

Following from our post on the routing complications at the London Internet Exchange. Whilst we haven’t had official word from LINX, our tests have shown correct routing to our data centre with no issues. Once the issue is confirmed, we will update this thread. UPDATE More information from LINX, they diagnosed a faulty port on a core switch. Daily LINX traffic Weekly LINX traffic Network status can be tracked via theclientarea.info. Routing complications at LINX

This issue should be resolved and updates are being tracked on our LINX routing post. It seems that the London Internet Exchange (LINX) are currently experiencing problems. Our connections to LINX are no longer carrying traffic and this is having an impact on some clients who would normally cross LINX to reach us. We do not currently have information on the precise cause but the issue has been reported by other IPs connecting at LINX. We will provide more information as soon as we have it, but unfortunately it seems that the problem is outside our network and outside our control. Date: 09/12/2009 Time: 17:20 Effect: Increased latency and packet loss for some routes into the our network UPDATE: LINX Graphing Report The highlighted regions show where the network was experiencing significant delays. Network status can be tracked via theclientarea.info. Community thoughts can be followed on Twitter: Twitter #linx

What will we see in Magento 1.4 Release

Our concerns Whilst we know 1.4 will bring a much improved e-commerce platform, our only concern lies in template compatibility. Those that suffered the upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2 or 1.2 to 1.3 will have been forced to change a small portion of their template to suit the newer methods devised. The major point upgrades were never designed to facilitate an end user easily upgrading their store with 1-click methods. Improvements * Implemented frontend templates for widgets * Added field scope hints in system admin configuration * Implemented #15031: paypal checkout allowed through PP logo while allow guest checkout is marked NO * Simplified core email template store url generation (because all this logic is correctly implemented in the core url model). Completely disallowed to render SID in emails. Moved … Continue reading

Random redirect to homepage with Magento

This issue has bobbed its head a few times in various different ways. The example is that a user reaches checkout, my account or an equally session critical area, but instead of reaching the selected page, they are redirected to the homepage. This can be a conversion killer as usually the bug appears most notably on checkout. There can be a few reasons for this, however, we have found the two most common are: 1. Missing Com.php class This is very common and a peculiar “bug” as it isn’t in the strictest sense. The file is required by the Zend library, but isn’t present with Magento’s default installation. Thankfully, this is a quick fix. Com.php should be in ./lib/Zend/Validate/Hostname/Com.php. You can easily create it by copying ./lib/Zend/Validate/Hostname/De.php to ./lib/Zend/Validate/Hostname/Com.php and editing the file contents, so the class name is: class Zend_Validate_Hostname_Com implements Zend_Validate_Hostname_Interface Or use the whole file contents shown … Continue reading
